Will you be able to find what I'm looking for?No researcher, in this profession or any other, will be able to guarantee that information on your ancestor or descendant will be found. Much of the success of any search will be dependent upon how much paper-trail your ancestor (or the subject of your search) left in the records. If he or she was prolific at leaving trails of events in their lives, we will probably have great successes for you. Otherwise, even the best researcher in the world will not be able to provide evidence of your ancestral connections. That said, by the end of the project you will at least have some information to think about that may open up new avenues for research. Is a retainer fee or deposit required to start? For most small projects (2-4 hours of research), no retainer or deposit fee is required to start. Payment is only required before research findings are provided to you.For larger research projects like a cemetery project, web development or a book project a retainer fee of 25% of the estimate must be paid before work begins and final payment is to be rendered before research findings are provided to you. For bigger projects we're happy to discuss regular installment payments rather than a lump sum at the completion of the project if it helps your budget. For more information see our Pricing & Fees section. How does payment work?We accept personal checks and money orders for projects, but because these forms of payment can take longer to reach us or clear the bank, it may delay the start or delivery of your project. We recommend taking advantage of our secure payment options via PayPal or major credit card to expedite things. When we begin just let us know how you plan to pay for the project and we'll invoice you accordingly. All invoices are normally sent via email but if you prefer a hardcopy (when paying by check or money order) we can oblige for a $1.00 service fee per project. For more information see our Pricing & Fees section. How do I get started with a project?See our Getting Started section to learn more about our research process.Do you offer Gift Certificates?Yes! A gift certificate is the perfect present for friends and family and can be used towards any of our services.
